Home Brew Batch 8

Notes on batch 8 of my home brew.

Mash

  1. Mash Duration: 60 min
  2. Strike Temperature: 77 C
  3. Mash Temperature: ~68 C
  4. Mashout Temperature: 72 C

Ingredients:

  1. 8 L - Water
  2. 3 Kg - Pale Malt
  3. 0.25 Kg - Carapils

Boil

  1. Boil Duration: 65 min
  2. Volume: 17 L
  3. IBU: 48.67

Ingredients:

  1. 65 min - 18 g - Columbus (AA 16.5%)
  2. 15 min - 1 tsp. - Irish Moss
  3. 5 min - 15 g - Cascade (AA 7.2%)
  4. 0 min - 15 g - Cascade (AA 7.2%)

Ferment

  1. Yeast: Muntons Gold (pitched on yeast cake)
  2. Original Gravity: 1.056
  3. Final Gravity: 1.012
  4. ABV: 5.78%

  5. Started: 21/7/2013
  6. Bottled: 18/8/2013

Notes

Got a little too warm during fermentation (23 C).

Has a good dark colour, believe the mash temperature was bang on. Very drinkable although perhaps a tiny bit too bitter.
